Rubber Lined Gate Valve

Side view of Vcore rubber lined gate valve with handwheel operator”Introduction

As the General Manager of Vcore Valve, I am proud to introduce our Rubber Lined Gate Valve, a robust and dependable isolation solution engineered for the most demanding industrial environments. Over the years, we’ve learned that plant operators and engineers need valves that do not simply “fit the line” but actually extend the service life of their systems. That’s why we’ve invested in advanced lining technology, precision machining and strict quality control. The result is a gate valve that offers superior sealing, corrosion resistance and easy operation even after long periods of inactivity.

Unlike conventional gate valves, our rubber lined model combines the strength of a ductile or cast iron body with a full-thickness elastomer lining that shields all wetted surfaces. This design minimizes wear, eliminates crevice corrosion and provides a low-friction passage for slurry, seawater, chemicals and abrasive solids. Whether you are designing a new process or upgrading an existing pipeline, our valve is built to save you maintenance time and reduce total cost of ownership.

Key Benefits at a Glance

  • Full bore, unobstructed flow path for minimal pressure drop

  • Resilient rubber lining covers the valve body, gate and seat areas

  • Positive, bubble-tight shut-off even with solids present

  • Extended service life in corrosive or abrasive media

  • Low torque handwheel or gear operation for smooth opening and closing

  • Wide range of sizes, pressure ratings and end connections to match your system

“Cross-section of Vcore rubber lined gate valve showing lined body, gate and seat”Product Description

Each Vcore Rubber Lined Gate Valve is manufactured to international standards using premium materials. The valve body is typically made from high-strength ductile iron or carbon steel to ensure rigidity. A thick, replaceable elastomer lining – available in natural rubber, EPDM, neoprene or other specialty compounds – protects the entire wetted interior. The gate (or wedge) itself is also rubber-coated, forming a resilient seal against the matching lined seat area. This triple protection – lined body, lined gate and lined seat – dramatically reduces leakage, scoring and corrosion compared with unlined metal valves.

The bonnet and stem assembly is sealed with high-grade packing and is designed for easy maintenance. Operators may choose between a handwheel, gearbox, pneumatic or electric actuator depending on line size and duty cycle. Clear position indication and optional limit switches simplify system integration. Every valve is pressure-tested before shipment, so you can install it with confidence.

Function and Operation

Our rubber lined gate valve operates by raising or lowering a flat gate perpendicular to the flow. In the open position, the gate is fully retracted above the flow path, creating minimal turbulence and pressure loss. In the closed position, the rubber-lined gate compresses against the rubber-lined seat, achieving a tight shut-off. This design tolerates solids and fibrous materials far better than metal-seated valves. Maintenance is simple because the lining and gate are replaceable without removing the entire valve from the pipeline.

Typical Applications

Because of its design, this valve is ideally suited for:

  • Mining and Mineral Processing: Slurry, tailings and abrasive mixtures

  • Chemical Plants: Acids, alkalis, salt solutions and corrosive by-products

  • Water Treatment: Raw water, seawater intake, brine and backwash lines

  • Pulp & Paper: Fiber suspensions, bleaching agents and recycled water

  • Power Generation: Ash handling, cooling water and auxiliary systems

By shielding the metallic components from harsh media, the valve maintains full shut-off capability over a long service life, even under cycling conditions.
